CUMBERLAND — Jack Kennedy Murphy Jr., 65, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at the WMHS-Braddock Campus, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.Born Jan. 19, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of Dorothy Isabelle (Pownall) Murphy, Cumberland and the late Jack Kennedy Murphy Sr.

A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1961, Jack was a United States Naval veteran during the Vietnam Era, and retired from CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and former President of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie C. (Chaney) Murphy; his son, Tim B. Murphy and his wife Denise, of Eckhart; his daughter, Rebecca J. Boor, of Cumberland; and his sisters, Judy Brewer and her husband Joe, and Ginger Llewellyn and her husband Ron, all of Cumberland. Jack was also a devoted and loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Jackie Boor, Adam Boor, Meghan Murphy, and Brianna Murphy.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, PA, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (

) on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold McClay officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will be at the Maryland State Veterans’ Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
