Chuck and LeeAnn FRANCES L. CALLIS [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Frances LeeAnn Callis, 91, of Cumberland, passed away on Jan. 27, 2012, at her home.

Born April 15, 1921, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Hazel (Liller) Dowling. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Callis, in 1994; a sister, Elaine; a brother Matthew; half-brother, Ralph Albright; a daughter Mary Lee, a son, Daniel, and a son-in-law, Steven Goss.

Mrs. Callis was retired from the Celanese Corporation and the Holiday Inn of Cumberland.

Surviving are a son, Stephen Callis and wife Amy, of Cumberland; three daughters Carolyn Metz and husband Lewis, Barbara Metz and husband Douglas, and Nancy Goss, all of Cumberland; twelve grandchildren, Melea Metz, Toby Goss, Doug Metz Jr., Nicole Spencer, Aaron Keech, Carole Twigg, Brian Metz, Amanda Blank, Zachary Blank, Travis Callis, Bruce Metz, Bob Metz, Sheila Cecil, Frankie Bridges, Lenny Bridges, and Beth Churchman; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Following the visitation, a graveside service will be conducted at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 2:15 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Leedom officiating.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Doug Metz, Aaron Keech, Toby Goss, Brian Metz, Travis Callis, and Zachary Blank.

A Message from Carolyn

The class luncheon was held on Friday, January 13 at Carmichael’s Restaurant on Mechanic Street. It was a really cold and windy day, but we had a nice crowd in attendance, despite the date of Friday the 13^th. The chatter and laughter coming from both ends of the table indicated that everyone was having an enjoyable time. Alan Roby is “gearing up” for the Class 70^th Birthday Party in 2013 by designing a Birthday Card to be sent to each classmate announcing the event. Definite plans have not been made at this time, but it is great to see the excited anticipation. We also appreciate Alan and his card designs which have been sent to many classmates for different occasions and circumstances. Since Alan started this commitment, he has sent over 65 cards thus far. Thank you, Alan, for your dedication in this undertaking. The next luncheon will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Puccini’s Restaurant. We hope to see more classmates and guests at the next luncheon.

FLOYD KEESEE [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Floyd Keesee, 73, of Cumberland, died on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at his residence.

Born Jan. 31, 1938, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late James Paul Keesee and Ruby Halzeltene (Hogan) Keesee.

Mr. Keesee was formerly employed at the Clarysville Inn as well as National Jet.

He is survived by a brother, Eugene P. Keesee, of Randallstown; two sisters, Bernice O. Bennett, of LaVale, and Patricia A. Rugemer, of Reisterstown; as well as a niece and a nephew.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at noon, with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
